"LE TAMIS"

An illustrated book presenting the hakka people, a minor ethnic group from China. I wanted to present this culture from two points of view : one is very objective, history facts, hakka people's account, hakka recipes, and one is very subjective, my account, my story as a hakka little girl.
The choice of two different mediums (painting and pen) is to separate the facts (pen) and my feelings and personal memories (painting). I wanted people to feel the life of a memory, which is often partial and subtle. Young hakka people are less and less interested in their culture, which will eventually end up dying out. I want to show that I am concern by this situation and I want to show something else that just a tourist book on hakka people. This is my gesture to preserve the hakka culture.

There it is. The results of 3 years studying graphic design, enduring the teachers' harsh remarks, the sleepless nights, the working-on-the-computer-all-day-long… I am presenting to you my final year project to obtain my graphic design degree.

"I WANT TO KILL MY MOTHER BECAUSE WE LOOK TOO MUCH ALIKE"

Two illustrations I made for a friend's project. The subject was "What bothers you about your mother ? Why would you want to kill her for ?" This was my respond.
